Nirbhaya convicts hanged at Tihar

In the Nirbhaya gangrape scandal in the capital Delhi in 2012, justice has been done today after about seven and a half years. All the four convicts of Nirbhaya were hanged in the hanging house of Tihar Jail at exactly 5.30 am on Friday. The four convicts of Nirbhaya, Vinay, Akshay, Mukesh and Pawan Gupta were hanged together and now their bodies will be taken for post-mortem.

Seven years, 3 months and three days ago, on 16 December 2012, this incident in the country’s capital had shaken the entire nation. People had come out in massive numbers had come out on the streets to demand justice and today the result has come out.

Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi fought for justice for a long time, today when the convicts were hanged, she announced that on March 20, she would celebrate Nirbhaya Day. Asha Devi says that she will now fight for other daughters of the country.

Lawyer tried to save convicts till the last moment

There was an attempt by the four convicts of Nirbhaya to avoid hanging till the last moment. Their Lawyer AP Singh filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to defer the death warrant a day before the hanging, but a verdict came against the culprits.

In the middle of the night, advocate AP Singh moved the Supreme Court and when the Supreme Court was sitting there, even Nirbhaya’s convicts could not give some such arguments, due to which they hanged. However, AP Singh continued to call this hanging wrong and accused the media-court and politics.
