Meteorological department has issued a red alert of heavy rains on Thursday in Uttarakhand. On the other hand, heavy snowfall warning has also been issued in mountainous areas. This has resulted in declaration of holiday in schools in seven districts of the state on Thursday.
The department believes that in the next 24 hours from night to night, hail may fall somewhere in the plains. Following the weather department’s alert, the government has issued advisory to all the District Magistrates. In order to stop the movement of tourists in high altitude areas and to open the closed roads, it has already been directed to make arrangements.
Schools will be closed in these districts of Uttarakhand on Feb 7
The district collectors in the new Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Champawat and Pithoragarh have declared holiday in schools from 1 to the 12th.
