All schools & Anganwadi centers of the state to remain closed on July 14-15, order issued

In view of heavy rains in the state, the disaster management has directed the district authorities to keep the schools closed. Due to heavy rain alert, all private and government schools and Anganwadi centers will remain closed on July 14 and 15. The government has issued its order.

Holidays have been declared on July 14 and July 15 in view of the weather. While Sunday is falling on 16th July. After this, there is Harela’s holiday on 17th July in effect making it 4 day holiday.

The government in its order said that due to continuous heavy rains in the state, there is a risk of various types of disasters like landslides, flash floods, boulders falling, water logging, road closure etc. In such a situation, it has been decided to declare holiday on July 14 and 15, 2023, including all academic and non-academic teachers/employees in all schools (private and government) and Anganwadi centers of the state.

 

Weather forecast

Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand for the next three days. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains at some places in the state on Thursday. Whereas, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain on Friday and Saturday. Orange alert has been issued for this.

According to the Meteorological Department, today light to moderate rain may occur in most places of Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Almora and Pithoragarh. Whereas, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. For this, the department has issued a yellow alert.
