Railways appeals to people to reach well before time for thermal screening check

In Dehradun, passengers traveling by rail are not reaching the railway station 90 minutes before, causing trouble in front of the railway. Most of the passengers arrive together 15 minutes before the train leaves, due to which the railways is unable to do thermal screening and sanitization of passengers.

This has increased the risk of infection. The railway administration requested all the passengers to reach the station on time. No one will be allowed to sit in the train without thermal screening and sanitization. Even if someone’s train is missed.

Due to Corona crisis, only two trains (Dehradun-New Delhi and Dehradun-Kathgodam Jan Shatabdi) are being operated from Doon station at this time. According to the guidelines issued by the railway, passengers are required to reach the station 90 minutes in advance. So that their thermal screening and sanitization can be done.

Thermal screening cannot be done

The reality is that most passengers are arriving just 15-20 minutes before the train leaves. In such a situation, due to the simultaneous arrival of passengers, neither the thermal screening of most of them is being done nor the hands of any one are being sanitized. But now the Railways has taken a tough decision in this regard.

Chief Commercial Inspector SK Agarwal says that passengers cannot be allowed to board the train without thermal screening and sanitizing. In such a situation, the passengers who arrive a few minutes before the departure of the train may have difficulty in traveling. Traveling without screening and sanitizing in the future will not be allowed under any circumstances.

Ticket checking will be done with QR code

Checking of tickets of passengers in the train will no longer be direct. During checking, passengers have to show the QR code sent by the railway. Through this code, the checking staff will collect the complete information of the passenger. Railways have taken this step to avoid corona infection.

At present, tickets are also checked along with the passengers during the train journey. This has a higher risk of infecting the checking staff and passengers. But now the railway has changed this system. Now ticket checking will be done through QR code. Senior Divisional Commercial Inspector Rekha Sharma said that along with making reservation, a link will be sent by the Railways to generate the QR code on the mobile of the passengers.

Travelers will generate their QR code through this link. The checking staff will have to show this QR code to the traveler. The checking staff will scan the QR code of the traveler from his mobile. Along with the scan, the entire detail of the passenger will come in the staff mobile. This system has been implemented.

Many steps have been taken by the Railways to protect passengers as well as checking staff from corona infection. Sanitizing trains along with station premises, thermal screening of passengers before entering the station premises, sanitizing their hands, etc.
