Consulted with Raghuram Rajan for NYAY scheme: Rahul Gandhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that for his minimum income scheme (NYAY), his party had discussed with the world’s top economists including former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan. He said this while addressing a conference of Congress workers.

He said the Congress party was working on this idea for six months because it wanted to change  Prime Minister Modi’s “lie” to put ’15 lakh rupees into bank accounts’ into truth. He said, “Six months ago we started work. Idea is right to put money in bank account, but it has been lying in the Rs 15 lakh. The Congress people sat and spent six months working and I asked how to change this idea into truth. Narendra Modi talked about putting 15 lakh rupees in bank account. How can the Congress party complete this thinking?”

He said, “It took six months, I talked to big economists. Did not let anyone know. Did not speak about it. We have been engaged for six months. Take the list of the world’s largest economists, includingRaghuram Rajan. One after one said that the idea is good. We want to fulfill this. ‘

It is notable that the Congress President had announced on Monday that if his party came to power in the General Elections of 2019, he would give 20 percent of the poor families in the country under a minimum income (NYAY) 72,000 rupees annually. At the same time, he said that after the formation of the Congress government in 2019, young entrepreneurs will not need any kind of approval from the government for three years to set up a new venture. He said that the highest unemployment in the country’s 45-year history is in the tenure of the Modi government today.
