CSK spinners spin CSK to victory against RCB

RCB bundled out for 70 runs; CSK spinners pick 8 wickets

The first match of the IPL 2019 turned out to be a low scoring affair. It was the beginning of a new season but the same old story continued for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their batting crumbled in front of the Chennai Super Kings spinners. Batting first after losing the toss RCB opened with Virat Kohli & Parthiv Patel. Harbhajan Singh started the downfall of RCB by picking up the prized scalp of Kohli.

He also picked up the wickets of Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers. Harbhajan finished his quota of 4 overs in one go breaking the backbone of RCB batting. Imran Tahir then spun a web on the remaining RCB batsmen finishing with 3 wickets. RCB’s misery could be gauged from the fact that barring opener Parthiv Patel no batsmen could cross the double digit mark. RCB could not even play out their allotted quota of 20 overs and were dismissed for 70 runs.

Slow start for CSK

Chasing a target of 71 runs the CSK openers were watchful in the powerplay. They scored just 17 runs in the first six overs. Opener Shane Watson was out for a duck. The target was not a walk in the park for CSK as the pitch was slow. However, the yellow army managed to cross the finishing line with 7 wickets to spare.
