Jhanda Mela to commence from March 25

Dehradun’s historic Jhanda Mela will start from March 25. This time, in this fair, Gilaf will be presented by Kesar Singh of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. Darbar Sahib officials said that 105 years ago Kesar Singh’s father, Tej Singh, had made a booking for Gilaf. Darbar Sahib administrator Kailash Chandra Juyal said that preparations for the fair have started. The historic flag fair, which will last for about a month. Preparations for the climbing of the flag hoisting on March 25 have started. He said that after the recitation of Bharat Kirtan at SGRR Inter College, Sahaspur on March 18, the return of the accompaniment would be in Darbar Sahib. Pilgrims from across the country and abroad will start coming from March 19. The flagship program of Jhanda Ji will start from 8 to 9 in the morning on 25 March.

Importance of Jhanda Mela

Sri Guru Ram Rai, the eldest son of Guru Gobind Har Rai, was born on the fifth day of Holi, the seventh Guru of the Sikhs. Sri Guru Ram Rai, who was born in Kiratpur, Hoshiarpur district of Punjab in 1646, is considered as the founder of Dehradun. The flag meeting is held every year in celebration of his birthday. Administrator Kailash Chandra Juyal said that Guru Maharaj had given a message to the devotees to take blessings from the flag by placing a huge flag for public welfare.
