India defeats England in 5th Test, wins series 4-1

India has won the 5-match Test series being played against England by 4-1. In the last match being played in Dharamshala, Team India registered a big innings victory on the basis of strong bowling & batting performance. England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first. The entire team was reduced to 218 runs in the first innings. India scored 477 runs and took a lead of 259 runs, thanks to the century innings of captain Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill. The Indian bowling team of England could score only 195 runs in the second innings.

On the second day of the match, the Indian team started playing ahead of 473 runs at the loss of 8 wickets and after adding just 4 runs, the team was all out at 477 runs. Kuldeep Yadav became the 700th victim of James Anderson after scoring 30 runs while Jasprit Bumrah was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. Anderson became the first fast bowler in the world to take 700 Test wickets in this match.

Kuldeep and Ashwin dominated the first innings

Team India made a tremendous comeback after losing the first test match and won four consecutive matches. Rohit Sharma’s Team India did wonders by winning the series 4-1. After winning the toss in Dharamshala Test, England chose to bat first. Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin together wiped out the team. Kuldeep took 5 wickets while Ashwin took 4 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket in his name.

Rohit and Shubman Gill’s century

In reply to 218 runs against England, India scored 477 runs in the first innings. Captain Rohit Sharma played an innings of 103 runs on 162 balls while Shubman Gill faced 150 balls and scored 110 runs. Debutant Devdutt Padikkal scored a fifty while Sarfaraz Khan also scored a half-century.

Ashwin shines in 100th test

Indian team’s ace spinner R Ashwin made such a lethal start in the second innings against England which broke the back of the team. Ben Duckett, Jack Crowley and Ollie Pope were dismissed one after the other and pushed the team on the backfoot. After this, captain Ben Stokes was clean bowled by Ashwin. The off spinner, who took 4 wickets in the first innings, took 5 wickets in the second innings and made his 100th Test memorable by taking a total of 9 wickets.
