Space Technology cell to be established in IIT Roorkee

ISRO-IIT Roorkee Space Technology Cell (STC) will be set up at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. For this, the Institute has signed an agreement with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Space Department Bangalore, on Friday.

ISRO-IIT Roorkee Space Technology Cell will promote modern research in areas related to the future requirements of future of Indian Space Program and related technologies and programs. Along with this, all other resources including human resources will be used for this purpose. The activities of Space Technology Cell (STC) will be guided in such a way that the maximum benefit of the available research, capacity, infrastructure, specialty and experience already available in ISRO and IIT Roorkee will be taken.

STC will have staff, guest scientist, expert, research, personnel, technical, administrative and assistant staff. On this occasion IIT Roorkee Director Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said that as a Space Technology Cell, there is a great achievement for the institute to join with ISRO. Dr. PV Venkatkrishnan, Director, ISRO Headquarters, said that we are excited to work with IIT Roorkee. Hopefully the scientists and students of the institute will develop intense scientific thinking and will increase interest in space research. The complete management of Space Technology Cell will be done by IIT Roorkee.
