Supreme Court refuses to postpone GATE 2022 exam

Supreme Court has refused to postpone the GATE 2022 exam, the exam will be held on its scheduled date. The country’s Supreme Court has refused to postpone the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 exam. The Supreme Court said that postponing the GATE 2022 exam by 48 hours would cause inconvenience and uncertainty to the registering students. Therefore, the GATE exam will be conducted on February 5, 6, 12 and 13 only. Just a day ago, the students had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding to postpone the examination. The petition had cited COVID19 cases while seeking postponement of the examination.

The petitioners’ counsel Pallav Mongia told the court that 9 lakh students are appearing in the GATE 2022 examination. Despite this, the court has refused to postpone the examination. GATE 2022 exam is to be held from Saturday at 200 centers, but till now no information related to corona guidelines has been given by the examination authority.

GATE 2022 is to be conducted in the month of February on 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th. To postpone this examination, a large number of students had approached the Supreme Court of the country. In the petition, the students had applied to the court to postpone the GATE 2022 examination citing Covid-19. The matter was about the future of the children, so the Supreme Court agreed to hear the petition soon. The CJI had said that the petition should be included in the list. The Supreme Court’s decision has come on GATE 2022, the court has clearly refused to postpone the GATE 2022 exam.

GATE 2022 exam will be held on its scheduled date i.e. 5, 6, 12 and 13 February only. Indian Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is conducting the GATE exam this year. The exam will be in offline mode. 9 lakh students are participating in this exam. IIT Kharagpur has released the admit card for GATE 2022. Candidates can download the admit card by entering their email ID and password from the official website of IIT Kharagpur at gate.iitkgp.ac.in.
