Coronavirus infection continues to increase in the country. Three hostels of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee located in Uttarakhand have been sealed and declared as containment zones. The infection was confirmed on Monday among 54 students out of 60. At the same time, six positives were found on Tuesday evening. After this, the institute has asked its students not to return home until further orders.

IIT Roorkee’s media cell in-charge Sonika Srivastava said, that all the students of the hostels which have been made containment zones have been asked to stay inside their rooms where they are being provided food and other necessary facilities. Srivastava said, ‘The institute has converted its Ganga Bhavan hostel into a Covid care center under the supervision of the District Health Department, where infected students are being treated. In addition, a guest house and another inhouse establishment have been converted into quarantine centers for those who come in contact with infected students. ‘

As the number of Kovid patients increases in the IIT campus, the college administration has also instructed the students to take precautions and follow the guide line of Covid-19 prevention. Also, students coming from outside are also being quarantined after entering the campus.

IIT Media Cell in-charge Sonika Srivastava said that at present, students are giving entry in the campus after bringing a negative report of their Covid test. She told that the situation is under control at the moment.
