Guidelines issued for reopening of schools in Uttarakhand

Schools will open only for students of classes 9 to 12 in the state from August 2 amid fears of third wave of corona. Whereas for the children of classes VI to VIII, the offline classes will start from August 16. During this, online education of children will also continue.

In the meeting held in the government, it was decided that it would be mandatory to use social distance, mask, sanitizer in every school. A nodal officer will be made in every school for its compliance.

Several decisions were taken in the meeting chaired by Secretary School Education Radhika Jha. The state cabinet had decided to open schools for all classes from August 2 with 100 percent capacity, but now it has been changed.

SOP guidelines for reopening of schools in Uttarakhand

  • Schools with high student strength will be run in two shifts.
  • Children can be called in order of even and odd roll numbers.
  • No student will be compelled to attend the school when the school opens.
  • The consent of the parents will be taken before the children are called to school.
  • During the opening of the school, it will be mandatory for all teachers, staff and students to wear masks.
  • If a student comes without a mask, the school will arrange a mask for them.
  • Children will not be left together at the time of school entry in the morning and when the school is over.
  • Social distance will be followed in children’s vehicles, the vehicle will have to be sanitized every day.
  • There will be no prayer meetings, children’s meetings, sports, music, cultural programs and other mass activities.
  • Apart from tuition fees, no other fees will be charged from the children by the school management.

Schools will have to prepare internal SOP

According to Education Secretary Radhika Jha, every school in the state will have to prepare internal SOP. Accordingly the school will be run. She also directed that private schools should participate 100% in the next meeting.

Negative report of corona is necessary in boarding schools

The Education Secretary directed that the students and school staff residing in the residential premises in boarding and day-boarding schools will be required to submit the negative report of RTPCR maximum 48 hours before. Only then will they be allowed to enter the school.

Vaccination of teachers and staff will have to be done

Arrangements for vaccination should be ensured for the Principal of Boarding and Day Boarding Schools, Vice Principal, all teachers, employees, matrons, all the staff of the residential premises and all the employees associated with other services in the school. If someone has not been vaccinated, then the concerned school manager and principal will provide the list of such teachers and employees to the health department.

Full sleeved dress to be worn to prevent dengue

In view of the danger of dengue, the education secretary has instructed the students to wear full sleeved pants, shirts and salwar kameez to the students in the school.

Classes will not run in damaged schools

Classes will not run in the damaged school buildings of the state. Apart from this, separate toilets will have to be arranged for the students in the school. Toilets should be such that they are usable.

Classes will run for a maximum of four hours

Classes from class 9 to 12 will run for a maximum of four hours and classes from 6 to 8 will run for a maximum of three hours, but in schools where classes will run in two shifts, the management of those schools will be able to change the time table. Schools will open for studies only from Monday to Friday. Regular sanitization and fogging will be done on Saturday and Sunday with the help of district administration, city administration and health department.

Schools will be operated in hybrid mode

The schools will be operated in hybrid mode. Along with physical education, online education will be arranged. During teaching, teachers will broadcast the teaching work online live from mobile. Due to which such students who are not able to attend the school, they will be able to stay at home and join the teaching going on in the class.
