Former Peru President shoots self fearing arrest

On Wednesday, Peru’s former president Alan Garcia shot himself in the house to avoid arrest of police in a case of corruption. He was taken to the hospital, where he died. He was 69 years old. A skilled speaker Garcia served twice (1985-90 and 2006-11) as a President of Peru. For the first time, where he had won as a firebrand leftist leader. His second term was in the name of free trade and investment.

According to Interior Minister Carlos Moran, when the police came to arrest the former President at his house, he had told them to stop for some time. After saying this, he went into the room and closed his door. The voice of gunshot rung across the rooms in the next few seconds. After listening to the voice,  the police broke the gate and entered inside, Garcia was on the chair and bleeding from his head. He was rushed to the hospital where he died. Garcia was accused of taking bribe from a Brazilian company, which was being investigated the police. His supporters are accusing the government of allegations.

Garcia’s American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA) Secretary-General, Omar Quesada said that Alan Garcia has died, but his memories will remain for a long time. Peru’s current President Martín Vizcarra has expressed sympathy for the incident in a tweet.

He wrote in the tweet, “The death of former president Alan Garcia is a deep shock. I express my condolences to his family and loved ones. “The Health Ministry of Peru told that the bullet passed through Garcia’s head. Health Minister Julie Thomas said that Garcia had to face cardiac arrest three times during emergency surgery.

Garcia was the only leader of the Aprista Party who took over the country’s command. However, his political career was extremely volatile. When he became the President of the country for the first time in 1985, the country was in the grip of economic crisis and violence. In 2006, he was re-elected president. At that time the price of metal at the global level was increasing rapidly. In this period, he was greatly criticized and the social conflict in the country had increased considerably.

Garcia was born in a middle class family. His father was also in politics. When Garcia was born, his father was in jail. Garcia’s first meeting with his father was only at the age of five. He learned the first lesson of politics from his father. From the very beginning, he used to go to party meetings with his father. By the age of 14 he had become a good speaker. At the same age he also gave his first speech. He used to call himself a doctorate in law, but according to San Marcos University, he did not complete his PhD. He also went to Paris for education and when he returned from there in 1978, there was an election atmosphere in the country. Garcia had two marriages. After this he remained in the discussion because of relations with other women.
