Something rare happened with a girl of the UK when she slept for three weeks at a stretch and therefore missed her exams.

Excessive sleep due to illness

This is what happened with Rhoda Rodriguez-Diaz, 21, of the United Kingdom. She remained in bed for three consecutive weeks. However, Diaz did not do this for fun, but because of an illness. She is suffering from a serious illness that causes her to sleep more than the average person.

Real life Sleeping Beauty

Due to her condition she is also called ‘Sleeping Beauty’. Actually, Rhoda is suffering from an illness called Kleine-Levin syndrome or ‘Sleeping Beauty Syndrome’. Suffering from this disease Rhoda can sleep for a continuous 22 hours in one day because of feeling tired all the time.

Had failed in the exam

You might be surprised to know that the Rhoda can sleep for three weeks in a row due to this disease. Because of this, she missed her end-of-year exams. When Rhoda was a child, she had been diagnosed with Hypersinsomnia. The patient feels extremely tired in this disease. In September last year, doctors found that he was suffering from Kleine-Levin syndrome which happens in about one in a million people.

Rhoda said further, “as long as I sleep, life goes on. When I wake up, one week of my life disappears. Rhoda said that in my childhood I was unable to spend time with my friends.”

Due to this unique disease one month of her life passed without her knowledge. Rhoda is very worried about her illness. She said, “it is really sad when people call you lazy. I struggle to deal with its effects. This is very disappointing because I can not help in this. I am determined to avoid having a bad effect on my life because of this.”
