Journalist shot dead in Ireland on Good Friday

A journalist was shot dead in a terrorist attack in Northern Ireland’s London Dairy on Good Friday, April 19. The 29-year-old Irish journalist was shot in the night in the riots. The journalist had posted a picture of violence on Twitter. Police said that this attack could be of ‘Irish nationalist terrorists’.

The police said that the attack was done in protest against the 1998 Good Friday Peace deal. In Northern Ireland, after a police crackdown in Creggan area of ​​the city on Thursday there was chaos. Police say that they were trying to stop the terrorist attacks on this weekend. At least 50 petrol bombs were thrown in the attack and 2 cars were doused in flames. Shortly after posting this photo of the violence on Twitter, 29-year-old journalist Lyra McKee was shot dead.

She had termed the riots as ‘completely insane’. Police said that she was dealing with this incident as a terrorist attack and the investigation of the murder has been started. According to the police, there is the possibility of the hand of the New Ira (Irish Republican Army) group behind this killing. As per the 1998 Good Friday Peace deal, the weapons of the main terrorist organizations were banned. Apart from this, the matter of removing the British Army from Northern Ireland and the formation of a power-saving government was in this deal.
