Mexican rock star commits suicide over #metoo accusation

Armando Vega Gil (64), founder of Mexico’s famous rock band Botellita de Jerez , committed suicide on Monday after posting suicide note on Twitter. In the suicide note, he has denied the allegation of sexual harassment imposed on him under the Metoo campaign.

In a metoo campaign against musicians in Mexico, a woman accused Gil of sexual harassment. According to the woman, this incident happened when she was 13 years old. In the note, Gil said, ‘I want to clarify that the allegations against me are false. My death is not a confession of my crime.’

This is my declaration of innocence. ‘ He also wrote that no one should be considered responsible for his death. The band’s representative Paola Hernandez said, “I had talked to him two days before Gil’s death”

He was very sad and upset. He did not understand how he would prove himself innocent. He was also worried about his son how he would see it all. ‘
