Snowfall, Rain expected in Uttarakhand on New Year

The weather across Uttarakhand is expected to change as the world steps into New Year 2020 . Weather center director Bikram Singh said that cold day conditions remain in the state. Many hill districts are vulnerable to cold wave. Cold day conditions also prevail in the plains.

He said that fog in the plains and frost in the hilly areas are expected to increase during the next few days. Many high altitude areas have temperatures below zero.

It is expected to start raining from December 31. The first two days of the new year are expected to bring rain and snowfall in most parts of the state. All areas with an altitude of more than two thousand meters can experience snow from half to one and a half feet.

Severe cold may increase further in the next few days. According to a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Center, light to moderate rains are expected across the state on January 1 and 2.

It will start from December 31. At the same time, snow can fall from half to one and a half feet in 2000 to 2500 meter altitude areas and two feet in areas at a height of 3000 meter. Particularly Chamoli and Pithoragarh are prone to snowfall. There will also be good rains in low and plain areas.

In the capital, Doon and surrounding areas, the day temperature decreased by five and a half degrees on Thursday. Due to this, sunlight faded during the day. Due to this, the maximum temperature in Doon was reduced by four degrees.
