The investigation of the robbery by police in Uttarakhand will now be done by the STF. The investigation into the case of robbery of a bag full of notes from property dealer Anurodh Panwar by the policemen riding on IG’s official vehicle has been handed over to the Police Deputy Superintendent Kailash Panwar.
On Thursday, IG Garhwal Ajay Routela had sent the request to hand over the investigation to another organization as the accused are policemen.

Police Director General of Police Law Ashok Kumar told that the investigation of the case has been transferred to STF. In the direction of the Additional Superintendent of Police of STF, Swatantra Kumar Singh has directed CO Kailash Panwar to investigate the case.

What was the issue

Three policemen aboard IG Garhwal’s official vehicle had robbed a bag full of notes from property dealer under the guise of moral code of conduct on the night of 4th April. The amount looted is claimed to be Rs 1 crore.

Anurodh initially felt that the team of the Election Commission seized the bag. After two days searching for the bag, there was no evidence of seizure of cash, hence he complained to the police officers.

On 9th April, a case was filed against property dealer Anupam Sharma and three police personnel in Dalanwala Kotwali. Police officials suspended the accused policemen for allegedly misusing the government vehicle.
