Monsoon to be delayed till July in Uttarakhand

Everyone is awaiting monsoon in this the hot summer, but the wait for the people of Uttarakhand this time is going to be a bit longer. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of monsoon arriving 8 days late in the state i.e. on July 1, while it usually reaches June 22-23. This has happened four times in the last ten years, when the monsoon reached Uttarakhand in July.

In 2010 and 2012, it was knocked on the state with the maximum delay (July 5). This time it will be the fifth instance when it will come in July. On the other hand, in 2013, the earliest (June 15) monsoon was recorded, then the disaster had severely wreaked havoc in the state. Due to delay in monsoon, weather scientists have said that El Nino effect remained in the Pacific Ocean until May. This will delay the monsoon in North India. Monsoon rains in Uttarakhand can be reduced by up to four per cent from normal. Although four percent more or less rainfall is kept in normal range. During the monsoon, the average rainfall is 1229 mm in the state.

Temperatures again cross 40 degrees

In the valley, the sun began to show its might in the morning. In the scorching sunshine, the roads are becoming deserted during the day. On Monday, Haldwani’s maximum temperature was 40.4 degree and minimum was 26.7 degrees. Maximum temperature is four degrees higher than normal. The maximum and minimum temperature in Nainital was 28.1 and 19.0 degrees Celsius, respectively. Maximum mercury in Mukteshwar reached 29.3 degree and minimum of 16.3 degrees.

Minor changes in weather in coming days

According to Bikram Singh, director of Dehradun Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of light clouds in the state. There is no hope of any relief from heat in the plains. Light rain and hailstorm may occur in some places in the mountainous regions.
