Uttarakhand CM says Kalapani part of India

On the growing dispute between Nepal India over Kalapani in Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the things Nepal is saying are worrisome. It is part of India, it will remain India.
The Chief Minister reacted to the statement of the Prime Minister of Nepal KP Oli, in which he spoke of removing the soldiers of India from Kalapani. The Prime Minister of Nepal alleges that India has encroached on Kalapani, located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. In the recently released new map of the central government of the country, Kalapani is shown as part of India.

After this the Nepal government is continuously opposing it. In a statement on this contentious issue on Monday, the Prime Minister of Nepal has asked the Government of India to immediately vacate the area and call back its soldiers. Regarding this, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the things that are arising will be resolved through dialogue.

Nepal Prime Minister KP Oli has expressed his views amid protests in Nepal over India’s new map. He has said that “Kalapani, situated between Indo-Nepal and Tibet, is a part of Nepal and India should withdraw its army from there immediately. We will not give India an inch.” In fact, Kalapani region was Indian territory in 1816 in the treaty of British and Gurkhas. Kalapani is the border of India and Nepal. It is only through Kalapani that leads to the Lipu Lekh on the border with China. Kalapani is the origin of the Kali River. It is said that underground water comes out of Badrinath in Kalapani, the place where water comes out. Above it is the temple of Kali. This is called Kali Ganga and Mahakali in Nepal. This is the Indo-Nepal border.
