IIT Kanpur asks students to leave hostel fearing COVID-19 outbreak

To prevent the spread pf coronavirus COVID-19, IIT Kanpur has issued instructions to the students of its hostel to leave the hostel by 19 March.

Every effort is being made to stop the coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh.All schools – colleges, engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh have been closed till April 2. IIT Kanpur has also prepared a roadmap to evacuate the hostel in to prevent the virus from spreading.

The classes of all departments of Kanpur IIT have been closed. It is being speculated that the virus may spread rapidly in the next two weeks, due to this possibility the hostel have been asked to be evacuated. In such a situation, preparations have been started sothat the students to not face any problem. Students do not have to face any problem to reach home easily, for this, transportation has also been arranged so that all the students can reach their homes.

IIT Kanpur has started the process of vacating the hostels for students in different departments from Tuesday. While issuing the press note, Deputy Director Maninder Aggarwal said that by March 19, all the graduates, MBA and students of first year MTech, MD, MS have to vacate the hostel.

Only PhD, Second Year MTech, MS, MD and Fifth Year dual degree students who are already on campus can stay in hostels.
