Electricity tariffs reduced in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced new electricity rates for the year 2020-21. In all categories, the average has been reduced by four percent. Electricity will get cheaper for domestic consumers by 18 paise, for commercial establishments by 35 paise and for LT and HT industries by 23 paise per unit of electricity cheaper. BPL consumers have also been given great relief. The new rates will be effective from April 1, 2020.

Commission Executive Chairman DP Garola, Member MK Jain, Secretary Neeraj Sati released the new rates on Saturday. According to the new rates, the average billing rate of domestic category consumers was earlier Rs 4.62 per unit. Which is now 4.44 rupees per unit. Business rate has been decreased from Rs 6.73 to Rs 6.38, LT industrial consumer rate from Rs 6.26 to Rs 6.03, HT consumer rate from Rs 6.29 to Rs 6.06 per unit.

Relieving BPL consumers, the rates have been reduced from Rs 1.83 per unit to Rs 1.61 per unit. A record 12.02 percent decrease in this category. The commission has also given relief to electricity rates for promotion of Gaushala, Gosadan and small dairy. For the first time a rate of Rs 5.50 per unit has been fixed for electric vehicle charging station.

The state’s new electricity rates have been released. The new rates have given great relief to electricity consumers of every category. The current rates of BPL, domestic and commercial industries have also come down. Along with UPCL, tariffs of UJVNL and PTCUL have also been issued.
