Uttarakhand government to float global tender for Covid-19 vaccine

The government of Uttarakhand has now decided to import the vaccine to protect the citizens from the outbreak of Covid pandemic. Global tenders will be called for this. Chief Secretary Om Prakash has constituted a committee to conduct the global tender.

To decrease the impact of Corona outbreak in Uttarakhand, Covishield and Covaxin are not available in sufficient quantity. The campaign to vaccinate people between 18 and 44 years has also started in the state. The government needs a large amount of vaccine. But Covishield and Covaxin are not available.

Now the state government has decided that if the vaccine is not available in the country, now it will be supplied from abroad. The state has got permission from the central government for this. The state government will import covshield, covaxin, sputnik and other vaccines from other countries. The Chief Secretary has constituted a committee to import the vaccine. The committee will purchase the vaccine through a global tender. The Chief Secretary has instructed the committee to start the process immediately.

The committee constituted for importing the vaccine consists of Additional Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant, Additional Secretary Arunendra Singh Chauhan, Director Purchase, Directorate General, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Khajan Chandra Pandey, Officer of State Finance Service and Sumanta Sharma of PPP Cell.
