Boating activities to resume in Tehri lake from today
Speed and normal boating operations have started in Tehri lake from today. By 12 noon, about ten tourists had arrived for boating. People associated with the boat union performed milk anointing in the lake before starting the operation of the boats.
Tourists coming for boating will have to compulsorily bring the Covid negative report 72 hours before. Along with physical distance, tourists will have to sit on only 50 percent of the boating capacity.
The operation of boats was completely stopped from 30 April 2021 due to the second wave of corona infection in Tehri Lake spread over an area of 42 sq km. Presently 99 boats operate in the lake.
Apart from speed boat, power boat, jet ski, dolphin ride, banana ride, water scooter, water sports like para sailing are also done in the lake. According to the guide line of the administration, conditional boating activities have started in the lake from today. Adventure sports enthusiasts, tourists and people associated with boating business have breathed a sigh of relief with the advent of adventure in the lake.
Thermal screening has to be done
Tehri Special Area Tourism Development Authority CEO Ashish Srivastava had issued an order to start boating activities in the lake. He said that the boat operators will have to do thermal screening of every person at a distance of 100 meters from the boating point.
Also, arrangements for sanitization at the boating point, boat operators, operators and helpers including tourists will have to compulsorily wear masks. Tourists coming for boating will have to bring the Covid negative report 72 hours before.
In this regard, Shri Ganga-Bhagirathi Boat Union President Lakhvir Chauhan said that according to the guide line, at present only speed and normal type of boats will be operated in the lake. He said that as before, passengers will be charged Rs 300 per ride for a normal boat and Rs 500 for a speed boat.
