National Winter Games will be held in Auli in February next year

In order to promote adventure sports in Uttarakhand, the National Winter Games will be held for the second time in Auli from February 2 to 5, 2023. For this, the tourism department has completed preparations. Teams from many states including Uttarakhand will participate in these.

International Ski Federation (FIS) approved racing skiing events are also proposed to be held at the National Winter Games. There will be a total of four events in the National Skiing Championship-2023 to be held from February 2 to 5. Players from both men’s and women’s categories will participate in this.

In addition, the FIS approved Giant Slalom Race for men and women will also be held on February 7 and 8 as part of the Himalayan Trophy 2023. Having been developed with international standards, Auli also has mountaineering and skiing institutes run by the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam for imparting skiing training to the youth. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the state is fully prepared to host the event. He said that FIS approves any center only if it matches the international norms and standards. Auli has lived up to all these standards and norms. A master plan for Auli has also been prepared by the tourism department, which has been sent for cabinet approval. Apart from this, a 3.5 km racing slope is also proposed to be constructed here, after which Auli will be established as a unique skiing destination for skiing professionals.
