Mortal remains of soldier found in Siachen after 38 years

In 1984, during the clashes between India and Pakistan over Siachen, Lance Naik Chandrashekhar Harbola of 19 Kumaon Regiment lost his life in a blizzard. 19 soldiers were martyred in that storm, out of which the bodies of 14 were recovered, but five bodies were not found. After 38 years, when the country is celebrating its independence, the body of martyr Chandrashekhar will reach his home in Haldwani. When Chandrashekhar was martyred, he was 27 years old and had two daughters, 7 years old and 4 years old.

After 38 years, the body of Chandrashekhar has been found in Siachen. This information has been given by the army to their families. It is being told that his mortal remains will be brought to Haldwani on Monday i.e. on Independence Day. After this, the last rites of the martyr will be performed with military honors.

In 1984, a contingent of 19 Kumaon Regiment soldiers was sent under Operation Meghdoot to Siachen, but all were martyred due to the blizzard, including Chandrashekhar Harbola. Today, when the country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of independence, the body of martyr Chandrashekhar will reach his home.
