36 dead in bus accident in Almora district

A major road accident took place in Almora district of Uttarakhand. A bus fell into a gorge near Marchula. 36 people have died in the accident. While many people have been injured. Four injured have also been airlifted. Three injured have been admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out at the spot. SDRF team is on the spot.

A bus full of passengers fell into the river near Marchula area of ​​Almora district of Uttarakhand on Monday. More than 55 passengers were on board the bus. Police-administration reached the spot as soon as the information of the accident was received. SSP Almora also reached the spot. SDRF team has also reached for rescue operation. 36 people have been confirmed dead in the accident.

PMO announced to give two lakhs each to the families of the deceased and 50-50 thousand to the injured.

PM Narendra Modi expressed condolences on the bus accident

PM Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences on the Almora road accident. In a statement shared on social media by @PMOIndia, the Prime Minister conveyed his sorrow for the affected families, along with his sincere wishes for the swift recovery of all those injured in the accident.

“I extend my deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the unfortunate road accident in Almora, Uttarakhand. I am also praying for the speedy recovery of all the injured,” said the Prime Minister.

The PM has further has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from Prime Ministers National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.

The bus was going from Kinath of Nainidanda to Ramnagar. As soon as the bus reached near Marchula, it met with the unfortunate accident. As soon as the bus fell into the gorge, there was a lot of screaming. Some people died on the spot, while some people fell down after being thrown out of the bus. The injured people themselves conveyed the information to others. As soon as the information was received, the police and administration team reached the spot and carried out relief and rescue operations. The injured were taken to the hospital. 36 passengers were reported dead. While many people are injured.

More than 55 passengers were on the bus

The bus was a 40 seater. There were more than 55 passengers on the bus. Disaster Management Officer Almora Vineet Pal said that 36 passengers have died. The death toll may increase. The team is engaged in rescue operations.
