4 personnel die trying to douse forest fire in Almora district

Four people have died of burns while extinguishing a forest fire near Gairad in Binsar sanctuary area of Almora district. While four people are in serious condition. One of them is a forest guard. So far in this fire season, nine people have died in Almora district due to forest fire.

Forest department employees and PRD jawans are among the dead

Four people died after being caught in the forest fire while extinguishing a fire in the forest of Gairad located in Binsar sanctuary. The dead include permanent, temporary employees of the forest department and PRD jawans. The employees had reached the forest to stop the fire after getting information about it. There is chaos among the relatives after the incident.

Government vehicle also burnt to ashes

On Thursday afternoon, the employees of the forest department got information about a forest fire near Gairad located in Binsar sanctuary. After which the forest department employees reached the spot in the departmental Bolero vehicle. The employees went to the spot to extinguish the forest fire. But before the fire could be extinguished, the workers were engulfed in the fierce flames and got badly burnt.

Four forest workers died on the spot due to burns. While four employees others were seriously injured. The injured were brought to the base hospital with the help of emergency service 108. Where after treatment, seriously injured Krishna Kumar and Kundan Singh have been referred to a higher center. The vehicle also got burnt to ashes in the fire.

After the information, forest department employees also reached the spot. Here, DFO Civil Soyam Dhruv Martoliya said that four people have died in the forest fire, four people are seriously injured.
