Kohli-Sharma tons floors West Indies in first ODI in Guwahati

The first match of the five-match ODI series between India and West Indies was played in Guwahati. Losing the toss, West Indies’ team scored 322 runs in their 50 overs setting a target of 323 for India. In reply, Team India lost just two wickets in 43 overs. Rohit Sharma (152 not out) and Virat Kohli (140 runs) took the game away from the opposition.

Kohli scored 36th ODI century. This is the 14th century as captain of Indian captain Kohli. Kohli has broken the record of South Africa’s former captain AB de Villiers for most ODI centuries as captain. De Villiers’s had 13 centuries in ODIs as skipper. However, Kohli has made his 14th century, while being the captain. As captain, the most ODI century is the name of former Australian legendary captain Ricky Ponting. Ponting’s scored 22 ODI centuries as captain. Rohit Sharma also made his 20th century of ODI career. This was also Kohli’s 60th international ton. He is just behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most centuries in ODI.
