Stock market update: Sensex sheds 436 points; Nifty closes below 25850

The stock market witnessed a decline on Tuesday December 9. The Sensex fell by 436.41 points to close at 84,666.28, while the Nifty dropped by 120.90 points to 25,839.65. Meanwhile, the rupee strengthened by 17 paise against the US dollar, closing at 89.88 per dollar (provisional).

Separately, Trump has warned of imposing tariffs on rice imported from India. This has negatively impacted investor sentiment and dealt a blow to hopes of a trade deal with the US. Investors have lost ₹7 lakh crore in the last two days.
