A slight rise is being seen in the stock market today i.e. Saturday (May 18). Sensex opened with a gain of 4 points at 73,921. There was also a rise of 46 points in Nifty. It opened at the level of 22,512.
The stock market has opened today i.e. Saturday even on a holiday. There will be two special live trading sessions during this period. This is being done to test the disaster recovery site.
There will be testing to handle failure of the primary site.
This special live trading session was conducted with intra-day switch from primary site to disaster recovery site in equity and equity derivatives segments as per the stock exchange.
By doing this, the preparedness of the primary site to handle major disruption and failure will be examined. There will be an intra-day switch from the Primary Site (PR) to the Disaster Recovery (DR) site in the special live trading session.
The disaster recovery site is used to recover data from the most recent backup. If the primary location and its systems fail due to an unexpected event, it can be switched to the recovery site.
A DR site is essential for all critical institutions like exchanges, so that if any outage affects the functioning of Main Trading Center in Mumbai, the operations can be carried out smoothly without any interruption.
One session will be at the primary site and the other at the DR site
This session will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be a 45-minute session which will start at 9:15 am and end at 10:00 am. The second special live trading session will start at 11:45 am and end at 12:40 pm.
There will be an upper and lower circuit limit of 5% in securities including shares with all futures and options contracts during the special trading session. That is, the shares will fluctuate within this range only. The stocks which are already in the 2% band will remain in this band. This measure prevents excessive volatility and maintains market stability during the drill.
