Traffic route back to normal at Clocktower after one way trial ends

On Tuesday, traffic goers of Rajpur Road and Chakrata Road along with Ghantaghar and Darshan Lal Chowk were filled with a sense of relief as the one way trial around clocktower ended. Not only was the common man relieved from the extra travel distance, petrol and time were also saved. Businessmen along with the common people also took a breather on the closure of the one way traffic plan. Along with this, the dilemma created about Vikram and city buses also came to an end. At the same time, even pedestrians did not have trouble crossing the road.

Actually, the Darshan Lal-Ghantaghar-Astley Hall Chowk one-way traffic plan had flaws as per the locals. This plan, which is being promoted as a means of bringing ease to the public and ease of transportation, has proved to be absurd. Relief was far away, the convenience which was being received earlier was also lost to the common man. Instead of traveling just a hundred meters from Chakrata road to Darshan Lal Chowk, the common man had to travel around one and a half kilometers extra.

In the same manner, those coming to Gandhi Park, MDDA Complex, Ghantaghar were needlessly coming through Kanak-Lansdowne Chowk. Due to this, not only was the consumption of petrol and time was getting more, but also the dilemma and distress of the people had increased.

Traffic followed its old route from Monday. People left easily to go from Chakrata road to Darshan Lal Chowk. The clock tower and MDDA complex could be reached easily. Darshan Lal Chowk did not face any dilemma. Vehicles going to Lansdwne Chowk and Cross Roads could go on their roads comfortably.

The police had implemented the one way traffic plans planning for the construction works scheduled for Dehradun smart city development which would involve digging up of roads.
