NEET-UG 2024 revised result released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the revised result of NEET-UG -2024 on Friday, 26 July. The rank of 4.2 lakh students changed. At the same time, the number of toppers decreased from 61 to 17.

After the revised result, 13, 15,853 candidates have qualified. This is 415 less than the result declared on June 4. At that time 13,16,268 had qualified.

This happened due to a question in Physics. In the exam, 2 options of this question were correct, but the Supreme Court had asked to form a committee and choose one option. The NTA was also ordered to release the revised result.

The number of toppers in the result released on June 4 was 67. But in the exam held after the grace marks controversy, 6 toppers were reduced. This exam was held on May 5 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities across the country. More than 24 lakh candidates had appeared.

Bonus marks were given for Physics question number 19

During the hearing of the NEET case, the Supreme Court had ordered an investigation into Physics question number 19 which had two correct options in the exam. The court had said that by giving two correct options, 44 students got bonus marks and 4.2 lakh candidates suffered a loss. Take the opinion of experts from IIT Delhi on this.

The court had ordered that the Director of IIT Delhi should form a 3-member expert committee to investigate the question with two answers. The expert team should choose one correct option from them and send its opinion to the Registrar by 12 noon on Tuesday, 23 July.

The Supreme Court had refused to conduct the NEET exam again on 23 July. CJI had said that there is not enough evidence of any irregularities in the entire exam.

Five hearings were held on 40 petitions related to irregularities and paper leak in NEET exam. CJI DY Chandrachud had said, ‘If anyone is found guilty during the investigation, action will be taken against them. In such a situation, they will not get admission.’
