First Fastag barrier started in high Himalayan region

Fastag barrier has been started near Badrinath Dham for digital payment of eco tourism fee from vehicles. District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari inaugurated this barrier through virtual medium. This is the first Fastag barrier to be installed in the high Himalayan region in the country.
Eco tourism fee is charged by Nagar Panchayat Badrinath from vehicles coming to Badrinath Dham. Executive Officer of Nagar Panchayat Sunil Purohit said that Rs 60 is charged from small four-wheelers, Rs 100 from tempo traveler or mini bus, Rs 120 from bus and one thousand rupees from helicopter in one go.
Country’s first Fastag eco tourist barrier
This system has been going on since 2022. By collecting the fee manually, there used to be a long line of travel vehicles. Due to which the devotees used to face problems and their time was also wasted. The District Magistrate had suggested to take the fee through Fastag under the guidelines of NHIDCL.
The Nagar Panchayat installed this system at Devdarshini before Badrinath through Park Plus Company. After a successful trial of 15 days, it was formally inaugurated on Thursday. It is located at a height of 10 thousand 279 feet, it is the country’s first Fastag eco tourist barrier at such a height.
