Uttarakhand Avalanche: 57 workers trapped near Mana camp; 15 rescued

Amid snowfall in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, a massive avalanche occurred near Mana Camp in the India-China (Tibet) border area on Friday. During this, 57 workers engaged in construction work there got buried in the snow. IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop said that so far 15 workers have been rescued. The search for others is on.
Communication services have come to a standstill due to bad weather in the area. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that there is information about workers being buried due to avalanche between Mana and Mana Pass. Help is being sought from the Air Force. Army, ITBP are engaged in rescue. NDRF team has also been moved.
Snowfall for three days
Snowfall has been occurring for three days in Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Rudranath, Nanda Ghunti, Auli as well as Niti and Mana valleys. Due to which heavy snow has accumulated in the high altitude areas.
CM prayed for the safety of the workers
CM Dhami in a tweet said, ‘Sad news was received of many workers being buried due to avalanche during the construction work being conducted by BRO near Mana village in Chamoli district. Relief and rescue work is being conducted by ITBP, BRO and other rescue teams. I pray to Lord Badri Vishal for safety of all workers.’
