IAS Om Prakash to be the next Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand

Om Prakash, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, has been made the new Chief Secretary of the state. He will take over at the place of Utpal Kumar Singh, who is retiring as Chief Secretary, at 5 pm on Friday. Additional Chief Secretary (Personnel and Vigilance) Radha Raturi on Thursday issued an order for his appointment.

After the appointment order was issued, Om Prakash went to the Chief Minister’s residence and expressed gratitude by giving flowers to the CM. Om Prakash, who was appointed as Chief Secretary, is considered close to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He has previous experience of working with CM. When CM Rawat was the Minister of Agriculture, Om Prakash was the Secretary of Agriculture. Presently he was looking after the responsibility of the Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister.

Apart from this, he also had many important departments including technical education, mining. Although there was much speculation about the new Chief Secretary with Utpal Kumar’s retirement, the Chief Minister had made it clear that one of the two Additional Chief Secretaries would be made the Chief Secretary on the basis of seniority. During the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he also cleared the indications that Om Prakash would be made the Chief Secretary.

Top priority to agriculture and horticulture

The new Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that he would give top priority to the field of agriculture and horticulture. The state government has made several schemes to link agriculture with self-employment, which will be extended to the people.
