CM Dhami inaugurates Smart City schemes worth Rs 188 crore in Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of a total of 74 schemes worth Rs 188.07 crore at Kanak Chowk, Dehradun. Which includes 36 inauguration works at a cost of Rs 111.22 crore and 38 foundation stone laying works worth Rs 76.85 crore. Under this, the inauguration of electric vehicle charging stations at four places in Dehradun, foundation stone laying of 2 automated parking and one surface parking to be built at a cost of about Rs 11 crore are also included. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the letter management desk at the District Magistrate Dehradun office.

The Chief Minister said that the schemes related to various sectors including education, health, road, drinking water, irrigation, flood protection and urban development have been inaugurated and the foundation stone has been laid. These development schemes will provide a lot of convenience to the people in Dehradun and surrounding areas. 2 automated parking lots and one ground floor parking lot to be built at a cost of approximately 11 crores for crowded places in Dehradun city will provide relief to people from traffic jams and will also save time and resources. Under the child beggary prevention efforts, 3 rescue and rehabilitation vehicles being started from today will play an important role in the rehabilitation of begging children in the city. The tracking and management process of letters coming to the District Magistrate’s office will be strengthened with the start of letter management desk in the Dehradun District Magistrate’s office.

The Chief Minister said that with the guidance and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working for the overall development of Uttarakhand. Under the Dehradun Smart City Project, smart toilets have been built as well as smart water management has been started. Along with setting up smart schools, a state-of-the-art library with a capacity of 650 readers has been constructed at Lansdowne Chowk. 30 electric buses are being operated to promote environmental protection in the city. A 300-bed cancer hospital is being constructed in Harrawala. Mental Health Institute Selaqui has also been upgraded. Efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as an ideal city. Dehradun has also been included in the 5 best cities of the country under the National Clean Air Program by the Ministry of Environment, Government of India.

The Chief Minister said that with the resolve to keep Dehradun free from air pollution, 4 electric vehicle charging stations have been inaugurated in the city. The process of setting up electric vehicle charging stations is also underway at 7 other places. On one hand, through electric charging stations, the city dwellers will get the facility to charge their electric vehicles, while on the other hand, efforts for environmental protection will also be strengthened.
