Dehradun Nagar Nigam celebrates 27 years of establishment

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Nagar Nigam Dehradun) on Tuesday, laying the foundation stone and inaugurating development projects worth over ₹46 crore in the Dehradun metropolitan area.

Addressing the event, Chief Minister Dhami said that over the past 27 years, the Dehradun Municipal Corporation has played a key role in developing Dehradun into a clean, safe, and well-organized city, achieving numerous milestones in the expansion of civic amenities and modern urban management. He said that this Dehradun Municipal Corporation Foundation Day is an occasion to celebrate these achievements and also to realize the dreams of development on the ground, keeping in mind the challenges of the times to come.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is setting new records of development and prosperity. Today, numerous projects are providing a new direction to the development of urban areas across the country. Through the Swachh Bharat Mission, a new culture of cleanliness has developed in millions of cities, towns, and cities across the country. The AMRUT scheme has improved water supply, sewerage, and green spaces in urban areas. Similarly, the Smart City Mission has emerged as a model for urban development.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the state government is working with full commitment to transform Dehradun into a modern and developed city. In Dehradun, solid waste management and sanitation are being strengthened under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Meanwhile, public welfare schemes such as the Smart City Mission, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, AMRUT Mission, Open Defecation Free Campaign, and Legacy Waste Management are being implemented to provide better amenities to citizens. The Chief Minister stated that the government is working on various projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to establish Dehradun as a modern city. A modern mechanized transfer station has been constructed for waste management in the city, and an Integrated Command and Control Center has been established for real-time monitoring of garbage vehicles. To create a green and healthy Dehradun, 35 parks have been constructed at various locations in the city.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the state government is constructing the city’s largest yoga-themed park in Kedarpuram. Over 50,000 square meters of green space is being developed in the city through special memorial parks dedicated to the memory of martyrs. The “Renew Rispana” campaign is also being implemented to revitalize the city’s rivers. He added that 30 electric buses are being operated to promote environmental protection in the city, and charging stations for private electric vehicles have been constructed at 11 locations.

Chief Minister Mr. Dhami said that the state government is also striving to find a permanent solution to the traffic and parking problems in Dehradun. To this end, underground parking lots are being constructed at various locations, and plans are underway to construct elevated roads over the Rispana and Bindal rivers to ease traffic congestion. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also rewarded Municipal Corporation personnel for their outstanding work.

On this occasion, Mayor Mr. Saurabh Thapliyal stated that efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as a modern and environmentally friendly city. He also presented details of the development works being carried out by the Municipal Corporation.

Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, MLAs Khajan Das, Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma Kau, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, along with officials and councilors were present at the event.

1- Road footpath development, greenery, and beautification work from Kirsali Chowk to Sahastradhara Crossing: Cost: 264.21 lakh.
2- Construction of a gas-powered animal crematorium for disposal of dead animals at Mothrowala. Cost: 147.89 lakh.
3- Development of the road footpath, greenery, and beautification work on Canal Road, from Lakjuria Farm to Ajanta Hotel. Cost: 247.58 lakh.
4- Development of the road footpath from Kuthal Gate to Rajpur Chowk, greenery, and beautification work: 257.67 lakh.
5- Development of the road footpath from Ghantaghar to RTO Chowk, greenery, and beautification work: 165.84 lakh.
6- Development of the road footpath from Ghantaghar to Yamuna Colony, greenery, and beautification work: 193.11 lakh.
