Dense fog slows down transportation in Doon valley
Due to dense fog, the speed of trains as well as buses has slowed down. Many trains were cancelled on Tuesday. Also, more than 20 trains were delayed. At the same time, buses running on long routes from Dehradun are also reaching late by four hours.
Also, cold wave has hit the plains. The mercury in Doon fell by three degrees in 24 hours. The minimum temperature in Doon was 10.2 and in Haridwar it was 4 degrees Celsius. Due to fog, many trains of UP, Delhi route and other states were also cancelled.
On the other hand, the speed of buses has also slowed down due to fog. Buses on Delhi route are reaching late by one and a half to two hours, buses on Lucknow and Kanpur route are reaching late by four hours, due to which passengers are getting upset. The non-stop Volvo service is taking up to six and a half hours to reach Delhi from Doon.
Whereas, on normal days, this service used to reach Delhi in five hours. Ordinary bus services are also reaching late by two hours. On the other hand, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar on January 1 and 2. There is also a possibility of fog in the morning and evening in the plains of Dehradun, Nainital and Pauri district.
Three flights coming to Dehradun were cancelled, passengers troubled
Due to fog and mist, three flights coming to Doon on Tuesday were cancelled. Among these, Alliance Air’s 8:15 am flight from Delhi to Doon, 11 am flight from Kullu and 2:30 pm flight from Amritsar were cancelled. Airport officials said that these three flights were cancelled last Monday itself. This caused a lot of trouble to the passengers.
