Former ONGC engineer stabbed to death at home in Dehradun

An elderly man living alone in the posh colony Alaknanda Enclave on GMS Road was brutally murdered. He was a former ONGC engineer. His body was badly stabbed with knives. The neighbours heard a sound in the house and informed the police, after which he was rushed to the hospital. However, he died within a few minutes.
The police claim that no goods were stolen from the house. The reason why the elderly man was murdered is not yet clear.
As per reports, the victim, Ashok Garg, 72 years old, retired from the post of senior engineer from ONGC, lived in Alaknanda Enclave in Dehradun. He has two daughters, one of whom lives in Chennai while the other daughter lives in Gurugram. Ashok Garg lived alone at home after the death of his wife few years back.
On Monday night an unknown person stabbed him to death. He was stabbed several times in the stomach, due to which his stomach was torn in half. On receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The police is investigating to find out who killed the elderly man and why. Along with scanning the footage of nearby CCTV cameras, information is also being collected from the neighbors. The police got information about the incident on Monday night.
When the police reached inside, there was no one in the main part of the house. All the lights of the house were on. When they looked at the back part of the house, all the lights were on there too. The sound of groaning was coming from the bathroom. When the police reached there, they saw that the elderly Ashok Kumar Garg was lying in an injured state. The police took him to the hospital but he died after a few minutes of treatment.
