Lawyers strike continues for 21st day in Doon

The lawyers’ strike continued for the 21st day today, Monday. The Dehradun Bar Association has announced that it will continue the ‘chakka jam’ by staging a sit-in protest on Haridwar Road in front of the court. Further strategy will be discussed at the protest site.
Bar Association President Manmohan Kandwal stated that the decision to continue the symbolic ‘chakka jam’ has been made due to the lack of concrete assurances from the government on their demands. Last Saturday, lawyers marched to the Clock Tower demanding land allocation for chambers and government construction, but the administration has remained silent.
The Sangharsh Samiti is continuously corresponding regarding the demands. In such circumstances, continuing the strike is a compulsion. During this period, work in the court and registrar’s office will be halted.
