Mussoorie wintnesses seasons first snowfall
Mussoorie: The wait for snowfall finally ended for the many tourists and locals in Mussoorie and surrounding areas. After a long spell of dry and sunny winters the weather suddenly changed on Saturday morning and overcast conditions surrounded the Doon valley. As the day went on the temperature dipped further after some brief spell of showers and in the evening Mussorie and its adjoining areas received snowfall.
The snowfall not only brought smiles on the faces of the local businessmen but also the apple cultivators whose winter crop yields were suffering because of drought like conditions this winter. The Chamba-Mussorrie motorway was closed after 4 pm after it was reported that 2-3 vehicles had been stuck due to snowfall.
Although apple cultivators were rejoicing at the fresh snowfall, other crop cultivators especially that of wheat didn’t have much reason to celebrate as the long dry winter season this year has destroyed almost 50% of their crops.
