Old currency notes worth more than Rs 10 thousand crore deposited post noteban in Uttarakhand: RBI
RBI has shed light upon the amount of currency deposited in various banks across Uttarakhand post noteban announcement by PM Modi. On completion of one year of the noteban, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the old notes deposited by the banks and said that about Rs 10.20 thousand crore notes were deposited in the state.
According to Subrata Das, General Manager (Uttarakhand) of RBI, 67 lakh 25 thousand old notes of 500 and 1000 rupees were deposited in the state. Among them, the number of notes of 1000 rupees is 34 lakh 30 thousand, while the number of notes of 500 rupees is 32 lakh 95 thousand. After analyzing these notes in the amount, it is known that Rs. 3430 crore rupees were returned to the banks in the form of notes of 1000 rupees in Uttarakhand.
At the same time, this figure was Rs 6590 crores as notes of Rs 500. According to RBI General Manager Das, the oldest notes were deposited in SBI and PNB. In these two banks, the figure of old notes deposited was more than 65 per cent. The amount of old notes deposited in the last days of the ban on the currency notes was being estimated at Rs. 7500 crores. Now this figure has come out of Rs 10020 crores. However this figure has not been finalized yet. Partial modification is possible in this.
