Pre-monsoon showers bring down mercury in Uttarakhand
Pre-monsoon showers have brought much needed respite from the heat from the mountains to the plains in Uttarakhand. Most areas including Dehradun witnessed light to moderate rainfall. Due to which a huge drop in mercury was recorded. In most areas, the mercury has dropped by three to six degrees Celsius. Due to which there is relief from the heat.
On Thursday night, after heavy rain fell in Dehradun and surrounding areas, clouds continued to hover throughout the night. Also, light showers started from early morning. Clouds continued to hover in Doon throughout the day and there were two to three rounds of rain. Due to which the temperature went down by six degrees Celsius from normal. However, the sky started clearing in the evening.
On the other hand, in Chardham too, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at some places after the clouds played hide and seek throughout the day. In Kumaon, there have been continuous spells of rain in the high altitude areas for the last few days.
