Preparations for mock drill in Uttarakhand, sirens will be sounded at 4 pm in Dehradun

After the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, tensions are on the rise between India and Pakistan. Due to which the Government of India is going to conduct mock drills in 244 civil defense districts across the country on May 7. In this context, a mock drill will also be conducted in Dehradun district at 4 pm on May 7. The Dehradun district administration is busy preparing for it.

Meanwhile, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that a meeting is being held with all the departments regarding mock drills in civil defense districts. He also said that a mock exercise will be conducted in the Municipal Corporation area on May 7. So that the officials of the agencies and departments remain alert.

Along with this, the people of the civil society should also be aware that if such a situation arises and when an alarm, message or any transmission is given by the administration, then what should they do during that time? Information about this will be given.

District Magistrate Savin Basnal and Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh held a meeting with the officers associated with the army, paramilitary force, civil defense wardens, volunteers and IRS system in Rishiparna Auditorium Collectorate and gave necessary instructions regarding the mock exercise.

In compliance with the instructions received from the Home Ministry, Government of India and Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand Government, for strengthening the preparations of civil defense – on 07 May 2025 at 4 pm, people will be alerted by sounding siren / hooter at 05 places under Dehradun district, namely Dhara Police Chowki, Blind School Rajpur Road, Lakhkhibagh Police Station, District Magistrate Complex Collectorate Dehradun, ISBT, Araghar Police Chowki. This mock exercise is being organized to be vigilant and to protect during air strikes. This is being organized to keep the citizens alert during air attacks, its purpose is to keep the IRS system active including civil defense and to make the public/citizens aware of the security measures to be taken during a possible disaster or external attack.

Mock drill was done before the Indo-Pak war in 1971

The last time such a mock drill was done was before the Indo-Pak war in 1971. In such a situation, keeping in mind the possibility of war with Pakistan, the Indian government wants to prepare the people of the country for it. The exercise for which has been started by the Union Home Ministry of the Government of India.
