Rising AQI in Uttarakhand cities raises concern
Air pollution is continuously increasing in Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kashipur. Pollution increased further on Sunday as compared to Saturday. The average AQI in Dehradun reached 291, close to 300. Which comes in the poor category and may cause health problems for people.
On Saturday, this AQI was 246. In Rishikesh, where the AQI on Saturday was 149 in the medium category, it has now reached 190 AQI. In Kashipur too, it increased from 128 to 130. People may also have to face problems due to increasing pollution.
The reasons behind the increase in pollution since Diwali are continuous burning of garbage, smoke from vehicles, construction work and road dust particles etc. At the same time, the winds are also weak, due to which pollution particles remain deposited at one place for a long time and are not able to go away.
On Sunday, haze was visible in morning and evening in Dehradun. At the same time, light clouds camped in some areas during the day. The speed of the winds remained very slow. Due to which the pollution kept increasing. In the evening, the AQI in the Doon University area is reaching above 300 in the very bad category.
