Schools from class 1 to 8 to remain closed in Dehradun on Feb 2 due to cold alert

In view of the increasing cold, the administration has declared a holiday for students of classes 1 to 8 in Dehradun district on Friday, February 2, 2024. However, students from class 9th to 12th will have to come to school. Their studies will continue like normal days. The Chief Education Officer has issued orders regarding leave in all government and private educational institutes. In the order it was said that ‘the department has taken this decision in view of the alert issued by the Meteorological Center for February 2’.

Due to rain and hailstorm, the maximum temperature of Doon was recorded at 16.5 degrees with a drop of five degrees. However, the minimum temperature at night was three degrees above normal. Due to which the feeling of cold reduced. On the other hand, on February 2, the maximum temperature of Doon is expected to be 20 degrees and the minimum temperature will be seven degrees.

The rain that started late at night continued till morning. After around 1 pm, the cold increased due to torrential rain across the city. It rained heavily for about an hour. Due to which a situation of waterlogging was created at many places.

As per the data till 8:30 am on Thursday, Rudraprayag district received maximum rainfall of 15.7 mm in the last 24 hours. Whereas Almora received the least rainfall of 0.5 mm. Doon recorded 8.4 mm rainfall, which is 314 percent more than normal.
