Schools to remain closed in Dehradun district on August 4 after heavy rain forecast
The administration has declared a one day holiday in all public and private schools in Dehradun district on August 4, 2025.
Due to heavy rains in Dehradun, most areas are facing waterlogging. In view of the weather department’s alert, the District Magistrate has given instructions to keep all schools up to Intermediate closed in Dehradun district on Monday (August 4).
According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in 5 districts including Dehradun today. In the order issued by the District Magistrate’s office, it has been said that the Meteorological Department Dehradun has predicted heavy rain in Dehradun and heavy to very heavy rain at some places and lightning with thunder at some places.

The order stated that ‘In view of the moderate to heavy rainfall currently occurring in all areas of Dehradun district, the possibility of landslides increases in sensitive places. Due to which any kind of untoward incident can occur. Therefore, in view of disaster reduction, a one day holiday is declared on 04.08.2025 in all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers running from class 1 to 12 in the district.’
