Schools to remain closed in Dehradun on July 21 after heavy rain alert

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand on Monday (July 21, 2025). The Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri districts.

Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Almora. There are also chances of lightning and strong winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour. A warning of heavy rain has also been issued in the coming days. At the same time, the district administration in Dehradun has issued an order to keep all schools and Anganwadi centers closed from class 1 to 12.

Schools closed in Dehradun on July 21

Orders for holiday of schools have been issued by Dehradun District Magistrate Office and District Disaster Management Authority, Dehradun. The order states that the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain at some places and excessive rain at some places in Dehradun district on 21st July, due to which chances of landslides increases in disaster prone areas. Therefore to avoid any unwanted incident, the administration has declared a one day holiday for all public and private schools on 21 July.
