Two-wheeler DL test in Dehradun will now be done in RTO instead of Jhajra

Now, the DL aspirants will not have to go all the way to Institute of Driving and Training Research (IDTR) Jhajra, 20 km away from the city, to give the test for permanent driving license for two-wheelers. The Transport Department has prepared a driving track for this in the RTO office Dehradun premises, where tests will begin from Monday, June 9.
However, this relief will be available only to applicants giving DL test for two-wheelers, while applicants whose test will be for both two-wheelers and cars will have to go to IDTR Jhajra. RTO (Administration) Sandeep Saini said that a driving track has been built in the RTO office premises as per the prescribed standards, now the test can be taken here under the surveillance of cameras.
At present, the test for learning license for DL is done by answering multiple choice questions on the computer in the RTO office. For the permanent DL test, one has to go to Jhajra IDTR, about 20 km away from the city. Here the test is done on the driving track under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Due to being far from city center, elderly people, women and children between the age of 16 to 18 years who apply for license of non-gear vehicle face problems. In such a situation, RTO had made a proposal that those who apply for two-wheeler license should be relieved from going to Jhajra. RTO’s proposal has been approved by the headquarters.
To give the test for two-wheeler DL in RTO office, the applicant will have to bring helmet along with them. Also ensure that the applicant knows how to drive a two-wheeler well. During the test on the driving track, only one chance will be given, if during this time the foot is put on the ground, then the applicant will be considered failed. RTO has appealed to the applicants not to fall in the trap of any outsider. Apply online on Sarathi portal yourself or get the application done by paying a fee of Rs 30 at Common Service Center. Before giving the test, the applicant will also have to give biometric finger print.
